Expat blog Expatorama Nicola Beach writer

A globe trotting Brit, this Jill-of-all-Trades is currently based in Hong Kong.  Her eclectic career history includes forays into direct marketing, customer relations, then a switch to finance. Since 2004 she has been a ‘trailing expat spouse’, (or to quote her husband an ‘expensive habit’).  Along the way she has wrangled her two growing children and acquired a portfolio of strange and useful skills and languages.

She’s now turning her attention to writing about some of the amazing, the awful and frankly bizarre aspects of the nomadic existence of life overseas, which has included stints in The Netherlands, Thailand, Nigeria, Turkey, South Africa and now Hong Kong.

      1. Waou, I just read your post. Good you still managed to keep your sens of humour 😛 At least you met nice neighbours and .. no cooking for 2 days?

  4. Hi! I found your blog by accident, I was searching for boarding schools. I’m a lot older than you, but i went to boarding school in the 1970s. I absolutely loved it. I’m in the beginning stages of writing a book about my memories, and just researching other people who went to boarding schools, and any blogs I can find. I’m also just setting up a blog about my life at boarding school which will go live soon. I look forward to reading your posts!

  5. Thanks for stopping by and joining my blog. I hope you enjoy reading my recipes and travels as much as I enjoy sharing them with you. Welcome aboard.

  6. What a fun blog. Funny to see how much our experiences have in common (I just read the hair raising post and had a laugh), despite being in completely different parts of the world. Here in Singapore, there’s less hair razing and more bewildered hairdressers, shaking their heads woefully and saying, “Aya, your hair so dry! So curly! Very crazy lah!”
